Overview
A full-stack app where users create trips, add activities and locations, leave comments and share plans publicly or privately. Runs behind Nginx with Docker Compose.
- Spring Boot 3.5, Spring Security 6 and JWT; REST API documented with SpringDoc OpenAPI.
- Next.js + TypeScript front end, PostgreSQL 16, Nginx reverse proxy, one-command Docker Compose.
01
Problem
A trip is nested data by nature: trip → days → activities → locations, plus comments and visibility rules. The goal was to expose this model through a clean REST API and make the whole stack run with a single command.
02
Approach
The backend runs on Spring Boot 3.5 with Spring Security 6 and JWT; every endpoint is documented with SpringDoc OpenAPI. The front end is Next.js + TypeScript. Nginx sits in front as a reverse proxy with PostgreSQL 16 behind; everything comes up with one Docker Compose command.

Key decisions
- 01
Document first, consume second
The OpenAPI schema existed before the front end was written. With the contract fixed, both sides moved independently.
Outcome
The repository is documented with an ERD, API flow diagrams and the auth flow; it runs locally with one command.
